Good news and bad news from the doctor: bad news, I have prostate cancer; good news it’s the smallest detectable size (so guys, get those annual PSA blood tests), the tumor has the lowest percentage of cancer, cure rate is 92-98 percent, and—here’s the best news—he said treatment is easier with a “skinny” person like me. Skinny?! That made this pudgy guy’s day!
I’m definitely leaning toward radiation which has none of the undesirable side-effects of surgery. (However, Japanese movies make me a little concerned with the effects of radiation: “The Prostate That Ate Tokyo” and “Godzilla vs. Prostate Monster.”)
Thanks for your prayers!

nice … thnx a lot
Jim,
I was one of the committee members at last year’s KCWC. A week after the conference I had surgery for ovarian cancer, finished my chemotherapy November 1 and have now been cancer-free for six months! God really will see you through! The chemo was relatively easy. Anti-nausea drugs have come a long way!
You’re in our prayers. If there’s anything I can tell you or you just need to talk, let me know.
Jim,
Now Godzilla movies will give me a fresh set of laughs ! You’re truly amazing.
So sorry you and your wife are dealing with tough medical issues. May the God of all mercy hold you both close and bring you positives through these tough, tough adventures.
Praying for you,
Rachael
Hello Jim,
My wife Sandra was dianosged with HERS2 breast cancer, stage 2, in Nov. 2007, and had a masetomy in December. Her lymph nodes are clear, so that’s a praise report. She’s had to undergo chemo and is on a estrogen blocker. Estrogen is the major cause of most, but not all, women’s cancers.
Since then we’ve met a lot of folks who are undergoing treatments, chemo and/or radiation, or have been in remission for a couple of years.
The experiences are eye and mind openers, and mind sensitive to others needs for our prayers and help.
You and Lois have our prayers, if we can help, please let me know.
I appreciate your writers sessions at the North Texas Christian Writers and the American Christian Writers conferences.
God isn’t thru with either of you as to what his plans are. I scratch my head sometimes at what he’s doing, but I know he knows something I don’t.
Ur sibling n Christ,
A1
